LEAD DESIGNER

Open Standard is looking for a skilled Lead Designer with a background in architectural design and design development to help lead our design team and shepherd in our next stage of growth. This candidate is a crucial foundational hire and will be responsible for establishing and maintaining our exceptional design standards, effectively communicating and teaching them to a small team of designers, and consistently improving and elevating the customer experience of Open Standard’s design process. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team: As Lead Designer, you will help to set the tone for the design team, effectively leading the team to produce excellent work, uphold high standards, and meet and exceed design deadlines and efficiency targets. 
  • Create drawing sets: You will work with Open Standard’s Sales, Project Management, Engineering, and Production teams to translate the client’s design vision into highly detailed development and shop drawing sets.
  • Translate client vision: You help clients understand Open Standard’s design vision and offerings, and effectively communicate their choices and optionality within the Open Standard product library.
  • Act as a brand steward: You will interface regularly with sophisticated design-minded clients, communicating Open Standard’s value, professionalism, and commitment to quality and client satisfaction at every touchpoint. 
  • Quality control: You are the final word on accuracy and excellent as it relates to Open Standard’s designs. You will review final design outputs to ensure compliance with project requirements and company standards.
  • Software Proficiency: Use industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Solidworks) to create detailed drawings and 3D models. Interest or experience in digital fabrication is a plus.
  • Scale growth: As a strategic leadership hire, you will work with the senior leadership team to help enable and scale growth within the company, consistently working to improve processes, mentor teammates, and hold yourself and the team to the highest standard. 
  • Problem-solve and prioritize: Projects in the built environment require regular problem-solving and prioritization. You will model ruthless client-centered prioritization skills, regularly solving problems, unblocking the team, helping to keep projects on or ahead of time, and to Open Standard’s high-quality standards. 
  • Improve our processes: As the company grows, you will play a key part in designing and cementing the customer journey as it relates to all aspects of the design process. 

Qualifications:

Design

  • Extensive experience (6+ years) in design processes, with a portfolio showcasing excellent design work. Strong preference for experience in interiors and the built environment. 
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a design team, setting high standards for quality and efficiency.
  • Proven track record of improving design processes and streamlining workflows to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Proficiency in creating detailed drawing sets and translating client visions into development and shop drawings.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and excellence in design outputs.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, and Solidworks, with experience in 3D modeling. Familiarity with digital fabrication tools is advantageous.

Open Standard is looking for a Sales & Customer Success Lead with a background in / familiarity with architecture, interior design, or the design of physical products to help lead our sales team and shepherd in our next stage of growth. This candidate is a crucial foundational hire and will be responsible for managing inbound and outbound sales, liaising effectively with our design team to ensure a seamless client experience, and consistently improving and elevating the customer experience of Open Standard.

Key Responsibilities:

Uphold excellence for our clients:

  • Serve as the primary client-facing representative of Open Standard, helping clients understand our brand and offerings, and showcasing how we can enhance their home and living experience through our products.
  • Support and grow relationships with individual customers as they engage with Open Standard, providing exceptional and timely support.
  • Guide clients along the Open Standard journey, collaborating with our design, engineering, and production teams to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Act as a brand steward, regularly interfacing with sophisticated design-minded clients, communicating Open Standard’s value, professionalism, and commitment to quality and client satisfaction at every touchpoint.

Lead the sales process:

  • Drive sales initiatives that contribute to the dynamic growth and innovation of the company, leveraging strategic approaches to achieve tangible results in revenue generation and market expansion.
  • Expand and nurture existing relationships and partnerships with prominent architects, designers, and contractors to support the growth of our portfolio.
  • Develop fresh connections with architects, designers, and specific client demographics to diversify our business pipelines, ensuring a steady stream of high-quality projects aligned with our company’s standards.
  • Manage incoming sales leads via email, social media, etc., to meet quarterly targets.

Maintain Open Standard’s CRM (Hubspot) and portfolio reporting:

  • Continually work to keep contacts and leads up to date to ensure cleanliness in our sales reporting
  • Work to expand reach, using data-driven insights to optimize and improve sales strategy

Scale excellence:

  • Work with the senior leadership team to enable and scale growth within the company, consistently improving processes, mentoring teammates, and maintaining high standards.

DESIGNER / PROGRAMMER

Open Standard is looking for detail-oriented individuals with a background in industrial design and product development to join our team. The new hire will play a crucial role in transforming design standards into concise drawings, 3D models, and supporting documents for engineering and manufacturing processes.

This role involves collaborating with our Design Team and Project Management to turn design concepts into precise 2D and 3D models and product specifications. You’ll also be responsible for quality control, ensuring that final designs meet project requirements and company standards. Proficiency in design software like AutoCAD, Rhino, and Solidworks is crucial, and any interest or experience in digital fabrication is a plus.
